Yellow Split Pea & Lentil Soup

A simple soup perfect for cold winter days!

This can be blended once cooked if preferred

Recipe:

Ingredient

Measure

Yellow Split Peas

500g

Lentils

500g

Water

4 ltrs

Ham Stock Cubes

4

Large Onion

1

Large Carrots

2

Cumin Powder

2 tsp

Garlic Cloves

3

Salt & Pepper

To taste

 

Method:

1) Chop the onions, carrots and garlic cloves and set aside

2) Bring water and stock cubes to boiling point and add Yellow Split Peas and Lentils

3) Once the Yellow Split Peas and Lentils start to soften

4) Add the onions, carrots and garlic cloves

5) Boil until the Yellow Split Peas and Lentils have softened completely and the soup has thickened

6) Season with salt and pepper

7) Serve with warm crusty bread and butter!

This can be frozen into portions so that you always have a winter warmer meal to hand!
