Over the last week Elaine (Founder of OCK) has stepped in to help cooking the dishes for the 85 members around the table over 3 days as well as continuing their frozen food delivery service.
OCK was successful in achieving their mental health grant. This will allow them to take on a part-time activities coordinator who will host games, day-trips and other enjoyable social activities for participants. It is expected that the day-trips and activities will boost the mental health for all involved, as well as building friendships.
Beyond Boundaries East Lothian will support this activity by providing bikes. Come the summer, OCK participants plan to cycle to the river Tyne for a picnic.
OCK hosted their first "The way we were" afternoon. The guests were invited to share their historic photos and stories with the group, this has provided a platform for extensive conversation between the guests and developed friendships within the community.
Lewis & Clarke in Gifford have accepted an OCK collection jar to help raise funds for the charity.
Erica's Florist, the Haddington based business has provided daffodils to OCK to celebrate the start of spring for all participants and volunteers/staff.
The bowling club is having an accessible toilet fitted, which will attract more people to play bowls and more people around the table.
Their 50/50 club was announced and the winner received £335 with the charity also receiving £335 in fundraising.
Lateral flows are continued at OCK for the protection of their guests.
Meanwhile over in the garden (whilst the tulips begin to bloom) the charity took delivery of their greenhouse. It is expected that the greenhouse will be available for OCK to begin their growing season in March.
A local man, Gareth Taylor very kindly built the greenhouse.
The growing project will partner with local schools and nurseries to provide the benefit of diverse education for the primary and nursery children as well as developing the charity's garden.
