Their first event takes place on Easter Sunday when they will be hosting an Easter lunch.

or

Teas & Coffees with mints

PureMalt have donated a selection of Easter Chocolates to OCK to support their Easter lunch, with the hope that all attendees will be able to take away or enjoy an Easter egg on the day.

Last week, founder Elaine Gale has returned to the kitchen again to help provide meals for their guests.

OCK are delighted to have been awarded some funding to allow them to take on an activities coordinator and support OCK's new day trips to local beauty spots.

OCK have shared their activities coordinator job post with us below:

"Activities Coordinator on a part time basis (£12 per hour) over three days per week for one year. This would involve organising activities after lunch at ock, evening social events and accompanying people on day trips. If you are interested in this post, please pm them on their Facebook page or email elaine@ourcommunitykitchen.org.uk for further details."
This summer with the support of beyond boundaries, OCK will be able to take their members on accessible bike trips to around East Lothian. Some members of the group who have previously had a stroke found themselves to enjoying testing the bikes with the rest of the team.
It is expected that these activities will encourage social and active pursuits which will allow friendships to develop.'

Handicabs have partnered with OCK for a year to provide bus trips for everyone who joins them with expected trips out to the Kelpies, Stirling, North Berwick and Portobello beaches, The National Museum of Flight, and many more places of interest.

East Lothian Council have supported the OCK team by providing funds to help towards their chefs salary. An essential area of the OCK charity is the food so this is greatly appreciated by the team.

OCK has been invited to have a fundraising stall at the Fun Day in Haddington's Neilson Park, this Jubilee weekend. OCK will have a bake sale to raise funds.

On the 14th of April OCK will host a local musician Ronnie Pollock who will play music during the lunch time. This will be a very special day as the last time Ronnie played at OCK was St Patricks Day 2019.

OCK continues and is delighted to be delivering frozen food to Lammemuir Larder which is delivered locally to people who are on a low income (Macaroni Cheese, Pies, Haggis Neaps & Tatties) People attending OCK also purchase meals occasionally.

An accessible toilet in the bowling club is now available for the members to use, this should allow members with accessibility challenges to access the OCKs sessions round the table and will also attract more people to play bowls.

OCK will be hosting a three course lunch for their volunteers at the Tyneside Restaurant in Haddington on 21st May.

Feedback from members reinforces the OCK "feels like a family" very grateful to hear from Elaine as she knows the charity is going in the right direction.
