Our story

Bruce Turner MBE discovered our site in Haddington whilst working in sales for English Grains. Inspired by it's 800 year history in cereal processing and driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Bruce saw an opportunity to pursue his own venture and founded PureMalt Products Ltd in 1972.

Established to service the food and drink industry with natural malt ingredients, PureMalt has evolved over five decades, adapting to meet the changing demands of the global food and drink industry.

In recognition of his leadership at PureMalt and services to business and the economy in East Lothian, Bruce Turner was recognised with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in October 2020.

This achievement was shortly followed by PureMalt receiving the Queen's Award for Enterprise, for International Trade. 

Today under the leadership of Bruce's son Ross Turner, the PureMalt team deliver speciality malt ingredients to over 70 countries across 6 continents.
