OUR COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Last month, Our Community Kitchen announced they were opening for 4 days a week, rather than 3, which has kept volunteers busy, with 30 – 35 people a day showing up for Chef Pete’s delicious, traditional, hearty lunches. GP’s have also been referring those who feel isolated to OCK, which has increased the numbers around the table too 😊
OCK are selling some frozen food to people who come together around the table and to Lammermuir Larder, who deliver across Haddington to help those who are struggling financially.
New designs have been developed for OCK; A new logo for Our Community Kitchen has been designed by 14-year-old Conor Goodwin, a pupil at Knox Academy High School, so make sure to keep an eye out for that. OCK’s first Christmas card will be released in the upcoming weeks so you can send to your loved ones this Christmas and help raise funds for the kitchen. The Activities Coordinator Tonia and Treasurer Alison has designed and produced the first OCK recipe calendar and photographer Andrew Moncrieff has taken and pulled together all the photographs. This will be sold around the table.
Sketching activities, a Trip to Maid of the Forth and movie afternoons were all thoroughly enjoyed by OCK participants in September. Nicola Graham has also been singing for participants, which has been lovely.
Helen has now settled and is well into her new role as the Garden Coordinator, meeting with local schools and nurseries to discuss projects and programmes in the OCK garden. There was also a family garden event held with a treasure hunt for children, which was a success.
OCK are delighted to announce the winning number is 38 in their 50/50 cash prize draw for September. 148 numbers have been sold and the total amount they received was £740.00 which means the winner will receive £370.00. Big thanks to the people who have purchased numbers!”
